The conservative political commentator’s nighttime show, Tucker Carlson Tonight, was consistently among the highest-rated cable news shows.
Tucker Carlson’s sudden and unexpected departure from Fox News has shaken up the world of cable news.
It’s unclear why he decided to leave at this time, but with the recent turn of event we can have a far guess. Keep on reading to find out more…
A statement was issued by Fox News earlier today:
“FOX News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways. We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor.”
The announcement stated that Carlson’s departure is effective immediately, with his final show airing this past Friday. In the meantime, Fox News Tonight will air at 8 PM ET on weeknights.
This news comes after Fox News recently settled a slander case with Dominion Voting Systems for $787.5 million.
It was claimed in the lawsuit that Carlson and other Fox News hosts falsely claimed that the company’s voting devices were rigged against Trump in the 2020 election.
Carlson’s departure may or may not be connected to that agreement.
Despite his prominence in the conservative movement in recent years, Tucker Carlson has attracted significant criticism for his extreme positions on a variety of issues, including racism, LGBTQ rights, and the conflict in Ukraine.
Many advertisers have stopped supporting his show because of accusations that he promotes white supremacist and conspiracy theories.
The reason for Carlson and Fox News’ sudden split is unclear, given that he has continuously brought in excellent ratings for the network despite the controversy and they have stuck with him over the years.
